GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE
PRESS RELEASE

SUBJECT: THE CHEAP & UNFOUNDED RUMOUR OF GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA & UGWUMBA UCHE NWOSU LEAVING APC FOR SDP/ADC

Barely 48hours to the submission of the Governorship and House of Assembly Candidates to INEC by Political Parties, the known fraudsters in Imo politics who have sneaked into Imo APC have come up with the cheap and unfounded rumour of Governor Rochas Okorocha and Ugwumba Uche Nwosu leaving APC for SDP. Their first claim was ADC.

Like we had intoned, this baseless rumour was manufactured by these fraudsters and been marketed by their agents on the social media.

Nobody builds a befitting house and abandons it for those who are facing criminal charges for issuance of Dud Cheques and failure to declare their assets. Rochas Okorocha is the LANDLORD of Imo APC in particular and that of the South-East in general. And he has the onerous task of ensuring that those recruited to destroy the Party in the State and indeed in the South-East do not have their way.

With the facts on ground, Uche Nwosu is the only one that has a valid claim to make with regard to the question of who is the governorship Candidate of APC for Imo State. And nobody would expect such a person to leave the party for someone who has nothing tangible to hold unto. Those who are still in doubt about what the situation should be in the case of Imo APC, should read INEC’s decision on Ogun State PDP Candidates’ list.

For the cock and bull story of SDP or ADC, people should disregard such weightless and unfounded social media creation. There is no cause for alarm.

We are also aware of the roles of the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, Bishop Anthony Obinna and that of the Former Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Cletus Ilomuanya in the Imo APC imbroglio with Chief Hope Uzodinma at the centre.

How Greedy has Governor Rochas Okorocha become? - Onwuasoanya FCC Jones

Read what he wrote below:

There are a total of 41 elective political posts in Imo State that will be up for grabs in the 2019 general elections, hence, every serious political Party in Imo State is expected to have 41 flag bearers who should have by this time emerged, to hold the ticket of the political Parties in the coming elections.

In the APC, where Governor Rochas Okorocha belongs to, he vied for and got one of these 41 tickets for himself, as the Senatorial candidate of the APC for Imo West Senatorial ticket. The other 40 tickets were won by other members of the Party who were eminently qualified in their own rights not just to represent the Party in this election, but to also win and represent their people in their various capacities.

There is none of the other 40 flag-bearers of the APC in Imo State who is related to the governor in blood, except the governorship candidate who is merely related to him by marriage.

The same people who complain about the governor wanting to hand over to his son-in-law had aided their girl friends and mistresses to political positions after raping or consensually sleeping with them. Some of them were helped up to the positions they are in the polity today by their mating partners, some of whom are married women and divorced ladies. Some of them take advantage of our ladies before giving them any form of assistance, politically or otherwise. Was it not in this State the wife of a governor was heard publicly accusing some female commissioners, SAs and other female hangers-on of trying to snatch her husband away from her? Few days ago, His Excellency Chief Ikedi Ohakim lamented that some APGA chieftains came from Abuja raped our ladies, our wives and even our daughters and promised them tickets of the Party, but eventually failed them.

Governor Rochas Okorocha is undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s most successful political leaders in recent history. Among the Igbos, he has made his mark as a door opener and bringer of originally unknown opportunities, among the Yorubas, he is a bridge-builder and a reliable ally in business and politics, and among the Hausas he is a brother, a leader and helper, unusual. He has assailed the oppressors of the Nigerian masses, not once or twice, but many times every day. He has changed the narrative that political power is for a selected few and proved that the child of a poor man without an Abraham pushing buttons for him or her can become more politically influential than the sons of the moneybags and even former this and that. He has won with the people and he has kept faith with the people. Yet, he is among the most lied against leader in today’s Nigeria. But should that worry anyone who knows life, history and the realities that define the life of world changers? Definitely, no.
Let me now tell you something may have always known about some of the greatest humans that strode on the surface of this earth. Jesus Christ is the greatest of them all, he was lied against, denied by his most trusted ally, accused of being a thief, a blasphemer and even a murderer. In fact, Jesus Christ lost an election to a thief, Barrabas. Who were the voters? The same people he restored their sight, healed of their sicknesses, brought back their relatives from death, rescued their friends from leprosy and most importantly gave the vital secrets that could lead them to eternal life. Paul the Apostle, whom we Catholics like to address as Saint, Peter, Stephen, John, and indeed all men that stood for good and for God, all men who stood for the people and fought for the masses, were all blackmailed, maligned and even condemned to death by agents of falsehood and others who were deceived into maligning them. even Stephen, the apostle and the saint was stoned to death for serving the people and trying to save them from damnation. Who then, is Rochas?
Like every innocent man, every lie told against Governor Rochas Okorocha expires faster than water dries off in dust. So many lies have been told against him, even before he became governor. Today, it is either those lies have become stale or the people have realized that they were all lies. For instance, the same people who told Imolites in 2011 that free education is unrealizable and a fraudulent campaign promise are the same people who have suddenly adopted free education as a manifesto of their political Parties and campaigns. Those who lied that Rochas was not real because of his genuine affection for the ordinary people, which made him eat maize in the streets, rode on motorcycle to campaign venues and do other things, deemed to be for commoners, are the same people trying desperately to imitate Rochas. But if e no be Rochas, e no fit be like Rochas. When Rochas buys corn, bananas, garden egg, or anything from the roadside hawkers, he is living his true life. When he stretches out his arms, innocent children run to him, because he is spiritually clean and undefiled, when he rides on keke or motorcycle, he is being himself. But, when these later day friends of the people try to do such things, the mimetic features are loud and clear. Everything they have criticized the governor for, they have either tried to do, or people have found to be blatant falsehood.

Their new refrain is that the governor is too greedy, that he wants everything for himself and some others say that he wants every political office for his family and relatives. I opened this essay by telling us what the true position of things are, as long as the politics of Imo State is concerned and to disabuse your minds from the onset on the falsehood that the governor wants everything for himself. The governor doesn’t really want everything for himself or his family; political or biological, but is being maligned by anti-democratic agents because of his insistence that democracy must prevail and that the rights of the people to choose whom they want to lead them at any level must be protected.

Actually, it would have been easier, less expensive and far more convenient for the governor if he had agreed to allow these anti-democratic elements have their way. If he agrees to the demand that people who do not know their ward chairmen and executives of the Party in their wards should be GIVEN the tickets of the Party on a platter of gold, the governor’s stress would have been far reduced, but he is taking the pains to ensure that the rape on our democracy is not sustained for any reason. Even if it has been the practice for a very long time, the governor is paying the price to ensure that it does not continue. The governor’s insistence means that for anyone to think of holding power in any part of Imo State, such a person must come to Imo State and negotiate with the people of Imo State, rather than relaxing somewhere in Abuja, reaching some deals with some people, who are most likely, not from Imo State and believing that he or she can hijack power from the top without recourse to ordinary Imo people.

The narrative that Governor Rochas Okorocha is greedy for ‘wanting everything to himself’ is absolutely silly and cannot hold water anywhere. It is only coincidental that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu whom he supports to succeed him married his daughter, but Uche Nwosu is not the only in-law he has who showed interest in becoming governor. In Igbo culture and I think most other cultures in the world, an in-law is not considered a blood relative as he can still marry from the same family if he so wishes. In fact, Uche Nwosu can marry Uloma’s sister or cousin, if he so wishes and he will not be falling foul of law or custom.  Okorocha’s support for Uche Nwosu’s governorship was earned rather inherited as some people will like to project. If the governor was looking for someone closest to him or a blood relative, he has many qualified individuals around him, including his direct siblings, cousins and even nephews. In choosing to support Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the governor went for the best person who will serve Imo State better than he has done and make Imolites happier than he has made them.

Assuming without conceding that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is actually a close relative of the governor as these bad losers would want us to believe, Governor Okorocha will not be the first Nigerian politician to support his relative or even relatives to take up sensitive political positions at the same time as others. At the time the current Senate President, Bukola Saraki was governor of Kwara State, his blood sister was the Senator representing Kwara Central in the Senate, and their father, the late Alhaji Olusola Saraki was the leader of the Party in Kwara State and even in the entire North Central. There are many instances of such situations and I personally support it, if it is done through democratic methods. Philip Aduda who represents the FCT in the Senate is a first cousin to Zephaniah Jisalo who is in the House of Representatives for AMAC federal Constituency, and so on.

The accusation that the governor is trying to build a political dynasty is also wrong, as it is only when power has consistently ran through a family for at least three generations that such family may qualify as a dynasty. There is no direct relative of the governor who will be on the ballot for the general election in 2019. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is of different family stock from the Okorocha’s and if we persist in presenting him as a relative of the Okorocha’s, then it is still wrong to qualify that as building a dynasty. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was not given any special privileges by Rescue Mission administration, but he made better use of the opportunities he was given to earn the love of the people through his humility, benevolence and integrity. He built for himself a massive followership and trust that can only be rivaled by the support enjoyed by the governor himself. In a democracy, what matters most is popularity and acceptability by the people. You do not allow someone who cannot win elections to stand election on behalf of your political family or Party. Uche Nwosu has proven to be the most sellable political brand at the moment in Imo State, and it would have been a huge error if Governor Okorocha failed to support him.

We should understand that what is at play here is not really about Governor Rochas Okorocha and some group of Abuja based politicians, but about the integrity of the ballot box and the vice of imposition in our democracy. If anyone wants to defeat Governor Rochas Okorocha, that person has to come to Imo State, negotiate with Imo people and if such a person or group of people is able to convince Imolites against their consistent and passionate support to Governor Rochas Okorocha, then, such a person can win power.
Democracy does not have any room for greed, because you can only get as much powers as the people allow you to have at any point in time and our Constitution does not allow an individual to hold more than one office at a time. Governor Rochas Okorocha is interested in presenting candidates that can win elections for the APC in Imo State, candidates who are in touch with their people, candidates whom their people answer their calls when they call, not individuals so cut off from their people that they only remember the road to their villages when elections approach.

Emir Sanusi - "We have elected uneducated people in the past. Now we must elect educated people at all levels"

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Saturday said Nigerians must ensure they elect into public offices, leaders who “are educated and know the value of education.”

Sanusi said Nigerians had made mistakes in the past by electing leaders without education, who subsequently could not give quality education when they got into the government.

The Emir stated this at the 6th convocation of the Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, where he urged Nigerians not to elect leaders without quality education to public offices.

Sanusi, who was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Science, alongside the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, said the Federal Government must use part of the trillions of naira it spent on subsiding petroleum products to educate the youth of the country.

The Emir said, “We have to take an interest in the quality of our leaders and representatives in the level of education. If you look around this country at many levels of leadership, we have elected and we have chosen to elect people who do not have education. And because they are not educated, they cannot give education.

“We need to lay more emphasis on the quality of people we elect to executive and legislative offices and we need to make sure that those to whom we entrust policy are themselves educated and know the value of education.

“Let us invest more in education and let us give up some of the privileges that we have such as the trillions we are spending subsiding petroleum products. That money should go into educating our young people.

In a remark, the Alaafin of Oyo commended the university for the award, saying the honour would motivate him to contribute more to the country.

Vice-Chancellor, Nile University, Prof Huseyin Sert, said 21 students bagged First Class; 67 got Second Class Upper; 96 got Second Class Lower Division, and two persons got Third Class, making a total number of 365 students who graduated.

Reno blasts Fashola: "Help President Buhari look for his certificate, stop slandering Jonathan"

The Nigerian Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola over the weekend implored the people of the South West to vote for President Buhari.
In addition, he made some unpleasant remarks about the Former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. Part of what he said was that Goodluck Jonathan decided to accept defeat in 2015 because he saw Nigeria was approaching recession.

Reno Omokri refused to let it pass and decided to come for him for the remarks.

Read what Reno wrote below:

"I am surprised that rather than help his principal, Muhammadu Buhari, look for his invisible school certificate, that has allegedly been ‘kidnapped’ by the military, Tunde Raji Fashola, the minister of darkness, persists in slandering Dr. Goodluck Jonathan by saying that he only conceded the 2015 elections due to the impending recession."

"Nothing can be further from the truth, and Fashola, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, ought to know that. First of all, there was no ‘impending recession’ at any time when Dr. Jonathan was President of Nigeria."

"What was on the horizon, was economic boom as evidenced by CNNMoney which projected Nigeria as the third fastest growing economy in the world in 2015."

"It did not end there. Under the Jonathan administration, Nigeria was a magnet for investment and was the number one destination for foreign direct investment in Africa as rated by the Geneva-based United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad). Today, Nigeria is not even included in the top 10 in Africa."

"Former President Jonathan handed over a robust economy to President Buhari on May 29, 2015, with a single digit inflation rate (it is now double digit), a Transparency International Corruption Perception Index ranking of 136 (it is now 148, the worst in Nigeria’s history), a Petrol Pump Price of ?87 (it is now ?145) and a Naira valued at ?199 to $1 (it is now ?365 to $1)."

"In fact, the economic situation under President Jonathan was much better than it is today that Gallup polls rated Nigeria under Jonathan as the 'happiest nation on earth". In contrast, today, the World Economic Forum rates Nigeria as the world headquarters for extreme poverty!"

"The fact, which Mr. Fashola knows very well, is that Nigeria’s first recession in 25 years occurred under President Buhari because he took six months before appointing his cabinet. And even when he appointed his cabinet, he appointed inept certificate forgers to handle a sensitive ministry like the finance ministry, which had hitherto been professionally handled by the world renowned Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala."

"Furthermore, the utterances by Mr. Fashola’s principal, whenever he left the country, served to demarket the economy and trigger capital flight. If President Buhari was not telling the world that all Nigerians were corrupt, except him, he was telling them that Nigerian youths are lazy."

"Statements like that triggered the loss of confidence in the Nigerian economy under Buhari, and indirectly led to the recession."

"I will like to also remind Mr. Fashola that on July 12, 2014, he said “the only way you and I will have electricity in this country is to vote out the PDP.” Mr. Fashola is fond of denying his own statements and we will like to remind him that he cannot deny this one because it was caught on tape."

"Incidentally, the Peoples Democratic Party is no longer in office at the Federal Government and Mr. Fashola has been minister of power for over three years, yet the power situation has not improved."

"Rather than bury his head in shame, Raji Fashola continues to dance naked in the market and blame Dr. Jonathan for what he and his bad gang caused."

American Model, Symba confesses Love for Nigeria after dinner with the VP Yemi Osibanjo

The American model, Symba has declared her love for Nigeria after meeting Vice President Yemi Osibanjo. Symba met with Vice President Osinbajo at the Vice Presidential dinner and expressed her excitement after the meeting via her instagram handle. She said that her love for Nigeria began when she got in contach with the music of Fela, Wizkid, Tiwa, Davido and many other Nigerian artists.

See what she wrote below:

"Ok so I always say to people that I LOVE NIGERIA and last night was a reminder of why. President Obama was in office for 8yrs years in my very own country and I am yet to get a glimpse of him much less a video with the Vice President of Nigeria. To many it means nothing but attending the Vice Presidential dinner last night could be the beginning of the rest of my life on a business level. My connection to Nigeria isn’t by way of origin it’s by spirit and force. The music of Fela, Tiwa, Wizkid, Davido and many others made me stumble across Nigerian music, fall madly in love with it and ever since I have never turned back. The first song to enlighten me was “party hard” by 🤔🤔🤔. Nigeria as a whole made me fall in love with it as well. We all know I love coins but putting coins aside it is one of the most motivating and inspiring countries I’ve been too. It’s the only place where you would meet someone of the age of 60 and that person has had almost 5 professions. For example: a accountant, lawyer, real estate developer, oil and gas engineer and now owns a night club. I mean WTDDA? (Where they do that at??) I love the hustle mentality, the fact that if you are in the right place at the right time you can embark on a person on project that can be life changing. I love the balance between work and play whereas in America all you do is work work work. I love the fashion, the films, the … let me stop here I don’t want this turning into something else 🙈. If you have a brain and enter this country with drive and focused you can make great things happen and “leave your footprint in the sand”. I’m ready to do some greater things in this new place I call home Nigeria."

Governor Okorocha states how N12.6B Paris Club Refund will be spent, Asks NWC of APC to summit Uche Nwosu's name to INEC

This was contained in a press release, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE
PRESS RELEASE

Governor Rochas Okorocha has disclosed that the State has received N12.6billion Paris Club refund and explained that N5billion of the money has been mapped out for the payment of Pensions, stating that Imo is a healthy State.

The governor also said that although the State is not owning workers any outstanding salary, N9billion will be set aside for the payment of salaries and informed that the State would now be paying salaries in advance. He said the government will source for fund to add to what remains of the Paris Club fund after removing the Pension money, to make-up the N9billion for the payment of salaries in advance.

The governor spoke weekend while swearing-in eight new Commissioners at the Sam Mbakwe EXCO Chambers, Government House, Owerri, explaining that the October and November salaries would be paid at the same time and that N2b has already been set aside for that purpose, while the State Government would inject N20billion into the economy of the State.

The governor also used the opportunity to call on the National working Committee (NWC) of All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to submit the name of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu who won the party’s first and second primaries, to INEC to protect the high integrity of President Muhammadu Buhari who is the leader of the party and the integrity of the Party.

His words, “This may be my last swearing-in of Commissioners before I exit as the governor of the State. But I assure you that I will exit strongly. For some time now, I have been in Abuja fighting for the soul of Imo State from possible kidnap and subsequent destruction by Political thieves. When a good leader is in Power, some people may not appreciate it until a bad one comes”.

He continued “May I announce to all of you that God is going to do a great thing for Imo State and that is why you can see the quality of people that have emerged in the parties. The Candidate of APGA, you can see he showed his nature in the way he emerged. When he came to APC, he came with the same manner but we chased him away and he went to APGA and destroyed APGA. This is their system. You see the one that emerged from PDP, it is also crisis, overturning and cheating. They don’t come from the right door but from the back door”.

He added, “The only hope left for Imo State now is for Uche Nwosu to emerge as a Candidate, if not there will be total economic catastrophe when I leave as governor. Though they have spoken falsely and badly about our Candidate but nobody could say that he did 419 in Lagos or that he was an armed robber in Benin or an arrogant man or a criminal. They have actually nothing to say about him except that he is my son-in-law.”

He charged the new Commissioners to live above board and work hard to contribute to the development and growth of the State and her people, while Mr. Sunny Chiadi who spoke on behalf of the new Commissioners assured that they would not disappoint the State and the governor who gave them the opportunity to serve the State as Commissioners.

The sworn-in Commissioners are; Mr. Sunny Chiadi (Market Development), Bonaventure Akwaiwu (Special Duties & Trade & Investment), Mrs. Esther Eburuche (Housing), Mr. Patrick Nze (Information), Lady Chinyere Uwandu (Environment), Mr. Kelechi Azike (Public Safety), Mrs. Edna Okorie (Gender Development), and Engr. Chika Ezeji (IGR & Pension Matters).

The governor also moved Lady Mrs. Ugochi Nnanna Okoro from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Finance Ministry.

Barber drugs and defiles 14 year old girl

A 18-year-old barber identified as Bakare Ismail, has been arrested by the Lagos State police command for raping a 14-year-old girl who he drugged.

The barber who lured the 14-year-old girl to his parents’ residence at Banjo Street, Owutu in the Ikorodu area of the state on Saturday, October 13, around 4pm, offered her a soft drink laced with a sedative. She was said to have slept off minutes after taking the drink.

The girl who woke with bloodstains on her pants, told her guardian who reported the incident at the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja. According to the rape victim, she was running an errand for her aunt when Ismail, who lives in the next compound, approached her and demanded to have a talk with her.

"While I was in his apartment, he offered me a soft drink which I drank. As we were talking, I did not know when I slept off. When I woke up, I saw bloodstains on my clothes. I rushed home to change my clothes."
“I was crying because I knew my aunt would punish me if she knew I had been raped.”

However, the suspect denied raping the girl, maintaining that he did not give Bidemi any drink that day.

"I was not at home throughout that day. My dad was not around either. He locked up the house before he left. So, I did not have sex with her. She was lying,” he added.

Ismail has been remanded in prison custody, following his arraignment  before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court by a police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuehi, on one count of defilement. His case file was also forwarded to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, as it was further adjourned till December 20, 2018.

I'm very disappointed with the Nigerian Press - President Buhari

President Buhari says he is disappointed with the way the Nigerian media has lived up to its responsibility since his administration into office.

Speaking when he hosted a group of political appointees and volunteers in the state house, President Buhari accused the Nigerian media of failing to highlight the successes his administration has recorded in the area of agriculture. He noted that his government has been able to make agriculture more lucrative than white colar jobs.

“I’m very disappointed with the Nigerian press. They didn’t give this government the credit of the `go back to land programme. We have cut down the importation of rice by at least 90 percent… I foresaw our problem in agriculture and did the right thing and today, people are much better. In terms of unemployment, our able-bodied persons that do not have education and can’t get white-collar jobs, went back to till the land and today, none of them is regretting it.” he said

He reiterated his call on Nigerians who feel disappointed about their country to go elsewhere and see how those places are.

“If people don’t feel good about this country, let them go and find out what is happening elsewhere but we are going to stay here and we are going to salvage this country together. I have gone through a lot, I have been Governor, I was in charge of our petroleum sector for over three years, I was Head of State and now I have come without the uniform and have visited each of the 774 Local government Areas in this country. The intention of this administration is to do the infrastructure and give education and healthcare to our people especially the poor.” he said

What! We import STEW into Nigeria?

Take a look at the stew imported into Nigeria from China which the Nigerian Customs service intercepted.

The Nigeria Customs Service intercepted the stew and other edible items in Lagos. The items worth N27,960,000 were being imported from China before they were intercepted.
The Customs said the container, which was cleared in one of the ports in Lagos, was intercepted by the Comptroller-General of Customs Strike Force team based on intelligence provided by the intelligence unit of the NCS.
It added that some other items that had semblance of mushrooms were already deteriorating in the container and could pose serious danger to human health when consumed.

The NCS had in the past intercepted a 20ft container of Egusi, Jollof Rice, Ogbono and yam porridge imported from India at the Tin-Can Island Port in Lagos.
