We are not in receipt of any court judgement relating to concluded IMO APC Primaries - APC

In a press release shared this morning, the APC through its National Legal Adviser has debunked the news going round that there was a court injunction against the already concluded APC primaries in IMO State.

Read the press release as was shared this morning.

PRESS RELEASE

WE ARE NOT IN RECEIPT OF ANY COURT JUDGEMENT RELATING TO CONCLUDED IMO APC PRIMARIES

Our attention has been drawn to rumours making the rounds, especially, on social media, relating to a purported court order restraining the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress from submitting the name of any governorship except that of a particular person.

Members of the Party and the general public are encouraged to discountenance any such rumours as the Party is not in receipt of any such ruling.

The issue of Party primaries have been concluded in line with our Party's Constitution and guidelines, and also within the time frame approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission. As a law abiding political association, the Party shall only uphold and submit the names of candidates nominated through free and fair primaries as supervised by relevant government agencies. We shall not give vent to illegality by conceding to any undemocratic proposal that would impinge on the rights of majority of Party members to choose who shall be their flag-bearers in various positions.

We are conscious of the fact that some interests within and outside the Party are seeking to blackmail the Party into taking actions that may plunge us into serious constitutional quagmires. However, the Party remains determined to uphold only legitimate and democratic processes.

Signed,

Babatunde Ogala
National Legal Adviser
All Progressives Congress
