There has been a recent display of the nominations forms of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by different contestants of the forthcoming general elections in IMO State.
It all started when a picture of the Governorship Candidate of APC, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu appeared online. In the picture, Uche Nwosu is seen flashing the INEC nomination forms along side other contestants for House of Reps and Senate.
This was pursued with a picture of Senator Hope Uzodinma and Senator Ben Uwajumogu also displaying the same forms, setting up the confusion as to how come about the multiple nomination forms going round.
In a press statement shared this morning, the IMO State APC Publicity Secretary gives explanation to clear the confusion .

PRESS STATEMENT
APC NWC ADOPTS RTD BRIG GEN IBRAHIM AGBAGBIAKA PANEL REPORT ON IMO APC PRIMARIES
Contrary to several misinformation flying around the social media as majorly sponsored by some anti-democratic elements and strangers to Rule of Law, parading themselves as chieftains of a non-existent Coalition, the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress has sat, considered and formally adopted the report of the reconstituted Imo APC Primaries Electoral Committee headed by Rtd Brig Gen Ibrahim Agbagbiaka.
The National Working Committee of the Party therefore directed the National Organizing Secretary of the Party, Barrister Emma Ibediro to issue the INEC CF001 forms to the State Chairman of the Party, Daniel Madueke Nwafor, who in turn would issue these forms to all the candidates who emerged victorious at the rescheduled direct primaries held on the 6th of October, 2018.
It is also imperative to enlighten the general public on the processes for the receipt of INEC nomination forms, viz;
1. The function of nominating candidates for elections is strictly for political Parties, hence, INEC does not directly issue nomination forms to individual candidates, rather to political Parties.
2. The Nigerian Constitution and Electoral Act do not permit independent candidacies, hence, no candidate can directly receive these relevant INEC nomination forms from INEC.
3. INEC nomination forms are only issued to political Parties who would in turn issue same to its candidates who emerged through free and fair nomination processes.
With the foregoing, it should have become abundantly clear to the discerning observer that any individual who is seen parading any INEC forms without evidence that such were issued to him or her by the Party, is a criminal impostor and should therefore be disregarded.
May we reconfirm that there are only 41 INEC CF001 forms made available to Imo APC through the State Chairman of the Party, Daniel Madueke Nwafor. And these forms have been issued to candidates who emerged during the 6th October primaries. Please, ignore as you would, criminal impostors, any individual showing off the INEC CF001 forms without evidence that such were issued to him or her by the State Chairman of the Party, Daniel Madueke Nwafor.
Signed,
Onwuasoanya FCC Jones
State Publicity Secretary
APC, Imo State.
13th October, 2018.
